Monsters
In the year 2017 I read a poem infront of writers, my classmates, professors, in the auditorium of Keiser University. It was March. I cannot forget that month because after that I didn’t have class for awhile. The poem was sad. I asked god what was my purpose because he had brought me to life and then revived me, yet I could feel my life going down a path that I described as self destruction. Today I am here with no sort of poem. I am here with my soul. To thank god for standing beside me every step of the way through out the war we call life. He made me understand my purpose. My purpose is to live. To be happy. To smile and write. To dream. To create. To love. To show to others what kindness and compassion is. To stand tall above all injustice. To never loose sight of myself again. To understand that I deserve to be a student. I deserve to have a scholarship because I have earned it. I have worked hard, without having word to type an essay and turn it. Without having a printer, and at times struggling to pay for he internet for the research. I have not let any obstacle stop me. They have slowed me down, but I have never used the excuse of circumstance to cheat, lie, copy someone else’s work, or hurt anyone the way I have been injured. Since I was 4 years old and new to America, I have been a straight A student with perfect attendance. I have diplomas, honor roll, and I have made my mark with every professor along the way. Yes, I am the annoying girl in the front that always has her hand raised and knows it all. Who will fight with the professor not to get her way but to help him understand that their is always a different way. I will cry and fight for that grammar misspelling that is taking away from my 100 points. I will never give up and I will never stop asking questions about my education. Why? Because my education is the one thing in this whole world that I am doing for myself. For my future, fort family. I will not let anyone or anything mess with the one throng in life that is untouchable. My intelligence. I may not be rich or come from a wealthy family, but I come from a cultured and educated loving family that day by day raise their glad for me because despite all adversity I have earned my grades. I am proud of who I am and what I stand for because today I see my hard work. It might not be with a scholarship or a diploma but it was given to me through character. It made me the women I am today. I am no longer unsure of what my purpose it anymore. I am sure that my purpose is to graduate and never give up on my dreams because talent, hard work, and dedication is not something that needs to be elaborated but something that you hold within because wherever I stand I can tell you a short story and make it beautiful. Copy that. Wait, don’t. I’m not the echo. This is my voice, my life, my future, and legacy to my children. If I am blessed with such gift, they will grow up knowing the importance of knowledge, school, socializing, doing your own work, dedication, consistency, and honesty. Let us be students. Let us create and write and get an F if that is what it takes to do better. Inspire us, don’t buy us. Have faith in us, let us become adults with principles and the understanding of hard work and the feeling of self accomplishment. School is about the student, not the parent. School teaches us and helps us figure out what we want with life. Don’t choose my life. Let me live. Let me create my world, with my intelligence and please don’t cut my wings. Let me be free to reach my dream of having the career I love, a family, and the chance to help others without been limited due to social standards. This might be a cliche, but I have a dream that one day I get my chance to prove what I bring to the table and I am worth a shot because I know I can make it ! I have a dream we will all have equal opportunities based on merit, hard work and our love for learning day by day besides or classmates and with the guidance of our professors.
Thank You
