The Moon

Laying down with these wounds of shame I try to seek quick relief, But nothing in this life can take away the pain Of a life of being a thief. Robbing people of their happiness I am best known for And that is all I have ever done And nothing more. When love comes my way My demon scares it to the bone, Even though I try to stop it Love ends up leaving me alone. Love will never find my heart Because of this ugly mark, For they only look at the attractive things And not what is behind the dark. For a ray of light must come save me From my impending doom, To show me care without prejudice, And do not bad things assume. But wait?! Alas!! She has been here a while To give me never ending happiness And to show me how to smile. For the light so came In the form of the moon, Always there but no attention I paid While I destined myself to my tomb. I thank God for this love in my life, For it changed me from outside in, I just wish I noticed before the trial Where she had really been.
