Moonlit Rose
Moonlit Rose, dancing under jewels of dew in the pearly light of the heavenly rock
Till your head bows in mourning to the harsh face of the morning star
Were for I to pluck you from your home would you only lose your radiant caress ever more quickly, kept away in a glass prison of fragile desire
Pray let me see you grow and unfurl your dress in prideful delicacy
For if your passing come before I see your full beauty, my tears would flood your garden
Moonlit rose, untouchable yearning, your petals softer than the cries of a newborn kit
But should my fingertips bruise your lovely face my tears shall flow a thousand wells of sorrow
Such fragrance blooms like angel song from your open arms of color
Grander than the queen’s perfume, I wish to hold to my chest till I return to dust
Oh Moonlit Rose, your thorns sharper than a rich man’s wit
A nursing wound my bittersweet reminder, for your teeth are hidden between fans of green
Woe is the night to turn to dawn for now I must go among the rot and stench
Of angry men and gossiping women
But come the dimness of dusk, I shall search for you
My Moonlit Rose
