Moontide

The whispering world of moontide

Gathering round that shattered shoreline,

Strewing across the stained sands,

Both arms -- a drunkard roaming alone,

Awaiting awakening, sleepless,

Unable to voice his grief.

Black waves, licking, smoothening the soiled mounds,

Spill into rifted crevices,

Flushing the wounded light seared apart, sideways

By watery pools -- uneasy, mute,

The ocean sweeps away into blackness.

Moonlight, moonlight on fallen soldiers,

Settled into the sand,

Forever stiffened into forced sleep;

Stillwells weep.

Unhindered,

Black water traces the unmourned remnants.

Weep, troubled soul,

Shrivel, spill out, cracked heart,

In a flutter all broken;

Memory, soaked in strange eyesight…

Fallen, all things the ocean

Washes away.
