MORE THAN ANYONE KNOWS

We’re all different flowers,

born at different hours

But we’re all the same,

blown away by the day

With different names,

spreading our separate ways.

We greet one another as we seep into the soil,

Smiling bright, we say our goodbyes,

Looking to the sky, we take our last breath,

For the next few days we will be at a depth.

The earth is dark, damp, and warm,

It holds nutrients, rich, far from the norm.

The water, cold and moist

Helps us grow and makes us rejoice.

Our stems grow, our leaves glow

What happiness to see my friends once more.

The sun, beautiful and blinding, leaves our eyes a-sore,

Makes us sigh a-bore,

but, its light we need to feed, you see,

The energy is captured in our great, broad traps, green and alive

It allows us to have sugar, and allows us to thrive.

The air you breathe, does not come to you carelessly

it is made by us, we give you it with glee,

And those friends of mine are happy, gleeful and true

The sky is without limit, jolly and blue.

We sing and we dance in the wind, going all-out

We have our differences, but cruelness is not what we’re about.

I often look at my friends,

Some purple, some blue,

And I think to myself, “oh, the trouble we stew!”

The red ones are mean,

And sometimes the green,

Look at me with envy, because of my leaves.

But I’ve seen reds that are kind and witty,

And even some greens that’ll make you feel pretty.

We’re all unique, and though it seems bleak,

We’re not all bad, underneath our physique.

The sun, the soil, the water, we need,

But the kindness and fairness of the soul

A completely different breed.

The instincts of man, some can not control

In us, we have a power

From which most of us do cower.

To love, to care, and to share

To take the time to sit, to breathe in the fresh air.

All these things, we need more than those

For it will make the world better, more than anyone knows.
