More Than Blood

Blood is red

Red like fire

Red like passion

Love, desire

Love is strong

Forged in fire

It elevates and lifts you higher

Some may question from where I came,

But in each family

Love burns like a flame

It blossoms no matter what the wood

Bright and proud, true and good

No matter whose blood runs through your veins

Through famine and drought, love will reign

I open up my mouth and say

Hear the words I speak today

They care for me, they give me love

For family is more than blood.
