More Than a Dance

Struggling to keep my hope alive,

You walked up to me and stood by my side.

I decided to give you a chance,

And let you take me to the dance.

We didn't know each other all that well;

Wheather anything would work out was hard to tell.

I gave you my number;

We texted till slumber.

Anticipation in the air,

A hat in your hair.

All the pictures taken,

We weren't shaken.

The Prom court dance

Captured people in a trace.

A night filled with laughter;

We went to post prom after.

Confidence marked your trail,

And it hit me like a nail.

You found a way into my heart-

Showed me a reason for a fresh start.

I wouldn't call it love,

You were more like my dove-

Offering a promise of hope

So I can do more than just cope.
