"brilliant" they said

"intelligent" they remarked

but no one went past her brain

to her heart

perfect grades

a perfect test score

others were envious

but she wanted more

to be more than the whiz

more than the genious

instead of just smart

to be known as courageous

perhaps Athena is more proud

of her bravery than her smarts

though she is better at calculus

she delights in the arts

she scored goals in soccer

she was a great friend

but others remember

only one thing in the end

for people acknowldeged

only what she did best

they remembered her wisdom

but forgot the rest
