More Knowledge

I’m ready to embark

To leave for my future

I find a man

He pleads with me

Help me!

I do not know

What element

Has nine electrons.

Fully prepared

I answer: Fluorine.

I continue on my path

Until I find another man.

He pleads with me.

Help me!

I do not understand

Why Fluorine desires

Another electron.

Fully prepared

I answer: all elements

Wish for an outer shell

Full of electrons.

Again, I continue on my path

Until I find yet another man.

He pleads with me.

Help me!

I do not know how

Fluorine bonds with

A noble gas.

I stumble.

I am unprepared.

My future path

Escapes me

I am lost.

Teacher, teach me

Do not hand me packets

Because you are tired

And wish not to share

Your knowledge.

I want more than the what.

I want more than the why.

I want the how.

I want to understand.

Such a great presentation of the problems with lazy teachers.
