More than Marks
I write,
Because it is more than a freedom,
A liberation,
An expression,
An art,
And maybe even, a science.
It can be math,
It can teach,
It can advise, instruct,
Construct or destruct.
There is a meaning to each mark,
To every dotting of an i,
Evey crossing of a t,
There is emotion,
There is a story.
I write,
Because here, there is no hiding.
Here, I can say anything,
Here I am me,
And you can become me...
For that short time that you are reading,
At least.
In the marks on this page,
Maybe we'll discover the meaning of the world,
Or grieve a lost one,
Or take a journey to a faraway place,
It's an adventure,
One that is up to your own interpretation,
And for each of us,
The words hold a different story.
The 'ands' and 'buts' that are gleeful as I write them,
Could be the 'ands' and 'buts' that cause tears to your readers.
And I write, because it is a community.
A group.
A feeling of belonging, no matter what.
So I will keep wrting,
Because it is about more,
More than the marks on the page.
