More than me

In the world I come from
The colors of skin mesh to one.
Culture clashes like the joining of two bodies of water
Like the rise and fall of grand empires.
Morals and ethics flood the bindings of religious teachings
The blood in my veins and the wheels of my mind…
Those are the greatest things.
The psalms of the bible,
The Hindu teachings;
Life is more than religion.
More than color of my skin,
Than the clash of culture,
But rather…
The lessons
In the world I come from
It is more…
More than race,
Than ethnic backgrounds…
The reason I stand with others
Of a different color.
The reason we strive to understand.
the reason to dream.
The reason to encourage others to do the same.
The lessons we learn.
The lessons we hope to understand.
It is the clay we mold into our greatest ambitions.
The sky that I see,
And the stars that I count.
It is the universe
- Everything we know about it, and
Everything we hope to find out.
A great drive…
Driven to understand
To realize…
The world is greater than me
