More Than A Teacher

First day I walked in,

Greeted by a smile that lit up my world.

With a "come on kids, have a seat.

We've got a lot to learn."

A silent promise of his trusting,

A friendship worth more than I can know.

This mask I've worn just might come off,

I'll hold on and see how this thing goes.

Through time my faith in you kept growing,

A patched up heart with unknown longing, didn't know how to say,

I've got all this feeling bottled up,

Your words will go a long long way.

Now I see, that...

God sent an angel to work that day.

Not aware that mine stood in front of me,

I called out for help, a lost child withheld,

Uncertain.

But then again...

I always found comfort in that laughter,

Knowing what I needed would be right there.

He showed me how to open up,

Love just a little bit more again.

I reached out to fall, you caught me.

A troubled mind that needed loving, an escape.

You saved me in more ways than one.

And I'll always say...

God sent an angel to work that day,

With love and a purpose, it'll all be ok.

That tattoo on your arm, your mark on my heart,

Will stay, they will stay, wherever I go.

The day I walked out, out your door,

A smile in my eyes, but my heart's on your floor.

Every night, I thank God for,

That day, my lucky day, when I crossed paths with you.
