More Than Words

The overwhelming joy I fill in my heart

Conveyed through beautiful images of a twinkling sea,

Or stars and skies that never seem to part

Show how much poetry understands me.

The excruciating pain I always feel

When experiencing times of despair,

Comforted by the speaker's words that heal

Shows how much poetry does care.

When the roller coaster of emotions does not end

Even when my happiness turns into vapor,

Poetry remains a trusted friend

Because it's more than words on paper.
