More than the wrongs of the Past

As I stand in the room, I could feel their eyes gazing at me. Setting their judgment about me Before I open my mouth to Say what I can do, I can feel the sins of those who came before me placed onto my back. As if a heavy yoke carrying their wrongs was weighing me down to not attempt to better myself, and that their actions pre-determined what I was meant for… But I wasn’t meant for this! Though their sins made them who they are, Their sins do not define me! I wasn’t meant to carry this weight on my back! I am here to make myself better than them; To make them see that their sins haven’t weakened me, But instead made me stronger! That I am not them, I am me! So I stand in the room, Remembering this when I hear them ask “who are you?” And I stand there in confidence and say: I am me. I am Josh.
