More Than You Know

My eyes burned as the tears rolled down my cheeks.

I watched you sign "I love you" as you drove down the street.

I knew this day was coming, but I tried to push it out of my mind.

I held onto every last moment, desperately grasping for more time.

My mind raced through all of the memories we made throughout our life,

The good times and the laughter, even the agony and strife.

I watched God shape and mold you into an incredible young man.

I rejoiced with each new accomplishment and was always your biggest fan.

In the hard times I mourned, broke and prayed for you like only a sister can do.

Although those times were painful, I clung to the promise that God was making you new.

Growing up has brought so much joy and happiness, but also sadness and grief.

My greatest times are spent with family, so being separated is killing me beyond belief.

Although my heart is breaking and I’m sad to see you go,

I’m unbelievably proud of your choice to serve our country and I love you more than you know.

Your bravery and courage is truly something to admire,

And I know that God will use this time to shape you into the man He desires.

Every day that you’re away I’ll relentlessly pray and stand in faith,

Believing that God is holding you, protecting you, and will always keep you safe.

I’m counting down the days until you’re home at last.

I look forward to making more memories and sharing lots of laughs.

I am so very proud of you, little bro

And I love you more than you know!
