morn of shadows

the hard exterior, firm and dark,

blackened bark of resilience

throwing fleeting shadows of our yesterdays,

chasing history down slippery alleys

to find the elusive beauty in chaos, to adorn

the filaments’ undergrowth with grace,

agility of living things, movement and stillness,

an unobtrusive entrance to clarity, focus,

shards of memory, remnants of grit shredded,

hiding in plain view the infinite days of summer,

to peddle nautical dreams, to cut the water with

force, to contemplate journeys yet to take,

in the immersiveness of an expanse of whiteout,

of timeless caves, of bottomless grief

the confounding aegean lights, the brilliance

of wasted time, as photons slow down and shower

with deep intensity the inner workings of self,

the deep mist, raising from frothy waves an spraying crests,

meandering complexity, fissile material,

frost unseen, unencumbered by heat or drought, there

when the sun stood still amid wondrous workings,

a bliss of solitude enveloping the quiet of night,

bracketing shadows of brilliance in a cloak of

winter’s blessings, in the formative early memory

of vanishing point-less adventures

with no end in sight
