The Morning

As the sun rises again, The peach-colored sky shows promise Of another day, another slot of time Whether guaranteed or not, Unbeknownst to us, Granting opportunity In every nook and cranny of its hours I run at dawn, a refresher Racing to beat or meet the daybreak Trying to overcome, outrun My inner demons and worries Yet there, too, are my delights And joys I recall Of previous times Or cherished memories to come Carpe diem; Overplayed, Yet understated With an enthusiastic zeal I will seize the day
