Morning broken.

Morning broken. Starless shadow night envelopes me As I wake my car from her sleep Shed the wintry blanket That clings to her like a frosty moss -- Sheets of ice. Some particularly bleak days I surrender to the numbing winter, Drive cautiously, Strain my vision through the frozen mist, Pray for steady tread. Other days I wish For the icy whispers of wind To sweep away Or for the sun to conquer night-- To mollify the winter shield. But today I weather bitter frost, Scrape away layers, Shatter my ice glass sanctuary A winter morning.
