Mornings with You

The mundane becomes extraordinary

early in the dragging day

as we meet before going our separate ways.

Your gaze pours into me,

warmth floods my heart;

I drown in blue irises

under waves of intensity.

Then you shine a smile,

a sunrise bursting over the horizon.

My heart’s ablaze,

turning molten the blood in my veins.

Then a single touch sweeps me away,

my emotions swirl in a tornado.

My head spins, my thought twirl,

your breezy affection surrounds me.

Then you lean in, muddling my rationality,

and you crumble my hesitation.

I’m grounded in your love;

my feelings are crystallized in this moment.
