Mortality

I can feel my own mortality

It seeps through my body

Sending chills to my spine

Filling in the empty spaces

A winter inversion settling in

Blanketing everything in a dull grey

I feel it in my soul

Weighing down

Dragging me down

Stagnant, sublime

I have watched the end of many seasons

Each with a yearning to have one moment more

One last wisp of nostalgia to hold on to

Before it fades

Like we all fade

Leaving memories of what once was
