Mortem

To bask in the light of life
Is to bask in the threat of
Death.
Ominous, foreboding, and
Looming over your
Heart.
But that's okay,
Its all fine,
As long as you are
Always mine.

Death is but a lonely
Observer on the outside
Of life.
Your life, my life.
He watches and waits
For the right time.
The moment of
Truth.
The moment of
Final judgment.

Death sheds a tear
For each life taken.
They long for the life
They take to be
Theirs.
To have life itself.
For himself.
But poor Death cannot
Ever touch life and bask
In its beauty.

For if Death were to
Have life?
Life would cease to
Exist.
Because eternal life
Might as well be eternal
Death.
One must exist for the
Other to have meaning.
Purpose.

A sad reality for
Poor Death to accept.
Fate.
The grand design.
Loneliness
Consumes the one who
Ensures life exists.
How is this fair?
Or right?
Or okay?

Because poor Death
Has no one to observe
His life...
