Moses Of My Life

Thanks. Merci. Danke. Much Obliged.

There are many ways of saying thanks, many ways to express gratitude.

None of these could possibly be enough.

Patience. Passion. Love. Kindness. Respect.

These things given unto me carry no monetary value.

As I grow, no matter how much I ever earn, these things cannot be paid back.

Flowers, jewels, old clothes in flea markets. These things all have prices.

Not my best friend.

Corny? Maybe. Overstated? Definitely not.

Best friends can’t be thanked enough

Even these words as I type them don’t seem to be enough to describe the way I feel.

“Gracious”? Far too bland. “Grandiose?” I’m pretty sure that’s not the right word.

What I am for my best friend is eternally grateful.

Thanks. Merci. Danke. Much obliged.

Thanks to the person whom I can look at and utter the word “pineapple” and burst into laughter afterwards.

Thanks to the person who backed me up in endless renditions of “Singin’ in the rain”

Thanks to the person who is the good in the bad of the world, which in turn made the world not be so bad.

Gracias. I owe you one. Cheers. You’re too kind.

Notes played, bows broken, strings repaired, and sonatas blared into open concert halls.

Violins always sounded beautiful beyond compare, but they were never as beautiful alone as they are when we play together.

Even your bad notes carry a strange and harrowing melody that fills a room.

And for that I say

Hat tips to you, thanks a million.

Thank you for the time we share in the sun, rain, and back of your old jeep with disgusting fuzzy dice you refuse to get rid of.

Thank you for guiding me through the rough time of my life. I always thought of giving up until you boost me up with reasons I should be alive.

Thank you giving me reasons to laugh every day and live longer.

Thank you for being the love of my life.

Thank you for teaching very important lessons in my life, for being there for me when needed.

Thank you for always sneaking me out and back in in the nick of time.

Thank you for having random floor picnics, and having concerts during the lunch room. I always thought pop music sucked until you played “call me maybe”, and of course I did later.

You shaped me into the person I am today. Even though only time will tell me if that’s a good or bad thing, to you I say

Thank you, best friend.
