A Most Exciting Place
Let me alone, so I may sit here, in the dark.
Throw your boldness to the wind, and in turn
Permit me to maintain my caution.
Forgive me, if I shan’t partake in your excitement
I’ve a mind to avoid danger and ecstasy.
Dangerous habits, you know.
Coward, they say.
Hermit, they say.
Nay, belay your ungrounded accusations.
I am an adventurer.
In my blood is burning passion,
And in my mind are tales ready to be told
Set aside your cars, your skateboards and video games,
And give me lost treasure, great ships of old,
Serpents, kings, dragons, trolls,
Aged mages with lore and stories galore.
Leave me to my mind, my worlds, give me a pen.
And I shall do my work.
My soul lives for the written word.
Therefore, do not vex my brain with your material pursuits.
It shall stay here with me, untamed and unchanged.
And together we shall create the universe.
