A Mother

A mother.

Something none of us could have been here without.

Sitting alone, crying,

With no one’s shoulder to lean on.

A desert full of sand and despair

makes you realize the importance of a mother.

Your mother.

Your first steps; she is there to hold your hand.

Your first breakup; she is there with a shoulder to cry on.

Your first child; she is called Grandma.

A mother is there for you until the end of time,

and without her, you would not be here today.

Sitting alone, crying, on a desert full of sand and despair,

you look over and see her walk across that sand, and the despair finally vanishes.

 You realize there will always be that shoulder to lean on.

She sits down; you lean over and feel whole, knowing you are not alone;

Forever.
