Mother

I open my eyes

and now I am--

Here.

My body is--

Growing.

Changing.

6 years old

Off to school I go--

Mother tells me

You’ll do great.

Look at this

a little dog,

Can we keep her

Mother tells me--

Yes, why not.

She needs a friend,

to play

I say.

Mother tells me--

Yes, okay.

Ten years old--

Mother you’re sick.

She tells me--

Yes, I know. Don’t fret.

Mother don’t leave.

She tells me--

Oh no, I won’t.

Almost a junior--

she’s gone.

Now,

a senior.

Grown

Matured.

Mother I miss you.

I know.
