Mother

Eyes mirrored with tears in each as they meet

The trace of Mother's youth is obsolete

Rest soon ceases but distress cries do not

The concept of slumber is then forgot

Baby's first steps provoked much vigilance

Each move was gazed upon with diligence

Mother's eyes were getting very tired

She looked away once but then it backfired

Baby would no longer be infantile

Mother knew her fate was to reconcile

Baby then left like a bird from the nest

Feeling woeful, Mother knew it was best

With tears in her eyes, Mother had smiled

She knew she would soon have a grandchild
