mother dearest

When you tell me to tell the things that you told to me

You're overbearing when you're with me and over and over

You told me you hate me you see

And the feeling is mutual

When you cut my hair

You missed a spot over there

And you told me that I was dull

Either way I would look fat

And when I decided stopped eating your food

You said there'd never be enough to ever sooth

The appetite that ached and burned deep within

I wanted something more

Than living in a bungalow in New Jersey

Than hiding from the cops in our poor poor town

Than running up the boardwalk with my only friends

But i knew I'd be stuck there

She said I'd be there until the end

That time we took a weekend trip to New York City

And you kept crying on the bathroom floor

you took credit for my successes and only then said you loved me

And then you stared at the sky and said you didn't love me anymore

And you said I was your favorite

But then i said lets fucking face it

Your own narcissistic self was the only thing you cared about

You said it was you own atrocious life  and you needed to let it out

And I cry too often

And I get it from you

But I need something to soften

Because now I've caught a terrible flu

I wanted something more

Than living in a bungalow in New Jersey

Than hiding from the cops in our poor poor town

Than running up the boardwalk with my only friends

But i knew I'd be stuck there

She said I'd be there until the end
