Mother Earth

Tick tock.

Slowly leaves change color.

Time passing gradually.

I watch from a distance.

Tick tock.

Hotter summers and colder winters.

Time passing faster.

I move closer.

Tick tock.

Species dying.

Population growing.

Time flying by.

I reach out.

The scent of dirt filling my lungs.

Water slipping through my fingers.

I gaze carefully.

Her smile wares down.

Death coats her eyes.

Tick tock.

Mother Earth?

Tick tock.

Mother?

Tick…

Tock…
