MOTHER, FATHER

MOTHER/FATHERMother and Father you have given me life... While growing up, I thought you were always right... Mother, with your hurtful hands blocking your way, just could not see me... Father, you were gone so much working hard to financially support us... I always wondered where you were in order to protect me... In what way Father, I did not know but as I look deep within myself now I know... I may not know why you were here and there in silence and... It does not make these feelings any easier... When you'd finally come home you'd be too tired to notice, just how much Mother had hurt me... Voices were silent for fear of the wrong touch... Eyes were so heavy with tears way to much... For Father, if you would have seen me you may have noticed... Just how far I was cried and drained out. Mother you hurt me in ways you may not have seen... And, to let you know Mother I could not see you either... You blinded me and covered me in feelings I still have held... Way to long ago I did not know, but, as I go through each of my days... I can understand I must go on...Your hands hurt me and your words so powerful I did believe... My body still trembles is achy and tingling with thoughts of all that you continued to do to me... Father, I was scared and alone just wondering where you had gone... Unsure of when and if you would come back, I searched so far for so long, I thought you could protect me from such harm, Oh, How I was so wrong... To have had the chance to call you DAD would have been nice... But, Father, what is a Dad to you? For Mother and Father I can see now that the meaning of Mom and Dad is not what I had... I am a child in an adult body... For now I can see that it was not me but... My Mother and Father who were not my Mom and Dad. This is me now with the child still in me... You’ve taught me how not to be…So, I Thank You for at least being my Mother and Father....For I am Stronger... Can’t you see… Written and Copyrights By: Deanna Culver (I wrote this poem many, many years ago)
