The Mother of a Soldier Asks [When You Coming Home?]
A cause you don't believe in
An education that you need
People you got no fight against-
Yet a politician's creed
Shame to stay
And risk to go
"When you coming home?"
This war was not your choosing
Motions of a song and dance.
Either draft or be enlisted,
It was anybody's chance
Wished to stay
And not to go
"Will you ever come back home?"
Can't find the words to tell her
This deck of cards was stacked.
Someone else must inform her
You won't be coming back.
Hope is slim
And love won't go
"But if only he had just come home."
