To The Motherland And Back
To the motherland
With your serene, green hills
With the bustling cities filled with people
With the people who still smile amidst all disasters
The Philippines, the one I call home
Longing to come home
I wait
For the day I will return
With stories to tell my entire family
Of foreign lands and their traditions
Now wiser than before
Now that I’ve seen the other side of the world
To other side of the world
The land of the free
Truly it is
Slowly I grew to love this place
The Golden State
With your ever present sun
With your ever confusing lingo
“Hella” “Lit” and “Foh’ Sho’”
With your ever diverse people
People from all walks of life
Some I have met and become friends
Some have not yet walked in my life
California, I have yet to call you my second home
But as days turn to months, turn to years
Maybe one of these days, just maybe
I can finally feel that familiar feeling of being at home
