Motherless Child

In the morning, she was never there,

I always wondered where she was.

Was she far or was she near,

Where ever she was,

She wasn't here.

I stayed up waiting for her every night.

To walk through my room door

And read me a story.

Sing me a song

And rock me to sleep.

In the afternoon, I would sit by the phone

Waiting for it to ring.

Hoping she would be on the other end

But to my disappointment it never did

And I knew it never was.

Now it's night and i put my own to bed

Telling them I will always be here.

Read them stories and sing them to sleep.

But still I wait and wait and wait

But she has yet to come.
