A MOTHER'S HAND

The whistle blew so loud in the dark

The young womb had grown so old

A strong light unfolded the path

The whispers raced so close to my ears

I wailed amidst joy

A strange world waited to grasp my hand

You wrapped me in your beautiful hands

Burnt my cold with a touch so warm

Nights came and time comforted me

The fields tore my skin so deep

But your hand came in before my shirt got so dump

Dressed my naked wounds with love

Like an angel, you watched every breath I inhaled

When disappointments befriended my heart

Only a mother's hand gave me life
