A Mother's Influence

Wind zips past my head and through my ears

Nothing resides in my brain upstairs...

Though all I do is study around the clock,

Every time I write, it's the curse of writer's block.

Inspiration illustrates a blank in my head.

I stay studying as my fellow friends wed.

I am married to my work, but that is okay

because I know I will be successful one day.

"Don't ever give up" my mother tells me,

"work hard and good things will come. Wait and see".

Hour after hour after hour in my room

My mother would bring me soup and a spoon

I lean on her when times get tough

She is always there for me; smooth sailing and rough.

My degree is for her, my inspiration, my drive

My mom; keeping my dreams of college alive.
