A Mother's Lesson

If you look to the west, you shall see

How the world will teach thee

If you look closely and listen hard

You will hear the wolves in your backyard

For the mother calls to her cubs determined to find them,

Before a bigger predator tears them limb from limb

She loves them and teaches them all she knows,

Before they face the cold world and have to go.

A few years later the mother is all alone

For there is no more company in her home.

She is old, tired, and can’t move anymore

For her has stopped beating at the core
