A Mother's love

Dear Mother Earth,

I'm sorry for the way we treat you.

We severe your roots

To fuel our selfish fires

And yet, you still provide for us.

We fill your lungs with smoke

Until you cannot breathe

And yet, you still care for us.

We poison your soul

With greed and hate

Until even your tears are full of acid.

And yet, you still love us.

How, I cannot help but wonder,

Do you do everything you can to sustain us

When all we do is hurt you?

Your unconditional love

Drives me to tears

And forces me to take a stand.

A stand against corporations.

A stand against corrupt politicians.

Even a stand against humans.

Whatever it will take

For us to notice

The horror we inflict on you.

But to you it makes no difference

Whether we help you, or harm you

Because a Mother's love

Will always exeed our hate.

And for that,

I thank you.
