A Mother's Prayer

Dear God,

Bless the baby I hold to my heart.

Raise them to be a better person

Than I.

Raise them to be bright and colorful.

Meek and mild,

Strong and diligent.

While not being afraid to be

Free and wild.

Give them all the things

I never received.

Far above riches and material

Things.

Give them hope and peace.

Give them dreams and visons.

I pray for laughter to strengthen

Their lungs.

Along with the occasional sorrow

To strengthen their back.

But of all the things I pray for,

Dear Lord.

I pray they receive so much love,

That they have no choice

But to give it to others.

So that this world may be infected,

Not with despair and disease.

But with hope and happiness

For a better tomorrow.

Dear God, above all

I pray this baby gains

You.

Amen.
