A Mother's Wish
I walk, I talk, I work, I sleep
Each day I rise, yet fall so deep.
The world moves on in endless hum,
But I remain, broken, and numb.
The little things that once would shine,
Now echo with your laugh, once mine.
A sunrise soft, a favorite song,
Each moment stings, each joy feels wrong.
I reach for dreams where you still live,
Where hugs are real, and smiles you give.
And in that world, a breath remains,
Relief from this unyielding pain.
I wish that this were just a dream,
A fleeting storm, not what it seems.
That I would wake, and you’d be here,
Your voice, your thoughts, your laughter clear.
Our home feels quiet, half-alive,
A place where echoes now survive.
We are a puzzle with one piece gone,
Trying to hold, to carry on.
Yet somewhere deep, I dimly know,
You’re free from pain the world can throw.
Your spirit roams where skies are wide,
Where sorrow has no place to hide.
Still, I am shattered, incomplete,
The highs now dull, the lows too steep.
My soul, it whispers every day,
I just wish you hadn’t gone away.
To talk, to laugh, to hear your schemes,
To build anew your hopes and dreams.
To hold you close, to see you grow,
To be your mom, that’s all I know.
And though you're gone from what I see,
You're etched in every breath of me.
A bond not death itself can sever,
My son, my love, my heart...forever.
