Mountain Sonnet

I Begin m ascent up the mountain
the looming pin trees all around me.
My mind fixed on the goal I will attain.
To Reach the top is the goal ahead of me

Though as I reach the higher paths I find,
the determination begins to waver.
The rocks and icy winds are so unkind
and erode the courage I did savor.

Sitting atop the mountain feeling the clouds
the shadows dancing under the blue sky
I hear a whole new array of sounds,
the bone chilling wind racing by.

Well worth all the trials, well worth all the pain
From the summit, I see all that I have attained.
