A movement.

They told me to sit in the back of a bus
I told them I'd prefer not
They told me to walk on the other side of the street
I told them I'll walk wherever I want
They told me I deserve to be raped, walking the streets black
I told them only the Lord will define me
They told their brothers, sisters, and wives to stay away
They didn't know what they were saying.
Change brought us closer together, and together we'll continue to stand
It takes a million nights of walking, ridicule, and prayer to get where we're going.
It takes movement.

I don't have much experience writing poems, but it is a cause that speaks to me. I hope it speaks to you as well.
