The #Move[ment]s

Civil Rights Black Power Black Panthers Black Arts Black Consciousness Labor Human relations Occupy Resistance Peace Freedom Reform Anti-globalization Counter-culture Generation X Straight-Edge Thug Life N*W*A Sean John [be ‘bout that] Bad Boy F*U*B*U Roc-a-Fella [To its current foundation] RocNation G*O*O*D Music you listen to In which N*E*R*D With A*D*H*D [You just might come up as the] T*D*E [With the] HiiPower [To] JetSet [Or] Dipset Lowkey just about any set that you claim to rep... Social, musical, political, cultural, philosophical, environmental, anti-war, artistic, humanistic, any and all #movements that make impacts that stretch as far as any elastic be so drastic to the point they become tragic-reborn-into-magic... Making moves has been the motive for most of us for a cool minute, It's those big ones that you make that can make or break your fate/faith, Hell, you gotta be all up in 'em to win them like you wearin some fresh denim or just expect let them to reject ‘em like a bad requiem, whether that be for a dream or reality, let it be... The question then lies in how any of these #movements alternatives to the "love" movement? Little of them, if any, do justice, poetic nonetheless, For much like a tribe called Quest, I feel that we collectively are the tribe that can illustrate best In how we attest to the many ways we are simply so blessed In this sense, I address you all to just ball and stand tall over all Overall, I doubt how we can just stand there and act unaware Of our own natural, innate flair As if we are collectively adhere to beware, be scared, and ultimately be square... Of all the generations of girls and boys all around the world making noise While chaos and controversy make the hearts weep and the minds thirsty... Thirsty for knowledge, acceptance, acknowledgement, or reverence Hell you can thirsty for attention and aspiration like Ali’s allegedly thirsty on Twitter, You know, with all “those boo-boos, those T's, they turned down, he thirsty, that boo-boo...” Meanwhile, I just hope I'm strapped with a recorder right at the edge of the border Of this corner, posted with some hoarders with mental disorders Trusting that my nerves may feel like it’s simply absurd for a man like me to use this many words to draw an emotional curve At the same time, it's kinda hard to decline this type of grind and shine coming from a place you once viewed like you were blind The American Dream is much harder to attain than most people today would claim For that fame we claw and grasp 'til we gasp for gas for in this cruel game of "pain & gain" All for some F*A*Ns & F*A*Bs to know your name Out of your ego-driven excess of making it un-plain Towards the status of a commodity of a prodigy offering no apologies upon thee… Now to who at this point do, could, or should we even blame? Please, oh please, let us all act a lil’ more civil and tame inside the unconscious membranes of our brains, hmm? Ladies & gents, we are the few, the future, the colleagues who should function to strive to “#move” forward to stay ahead of those in the league Who slack, deceive, and breathe out of fatigue ‘til they gasp and bleed while we all continue to believe in what we need, While they bask and we breed, While they starve and we feed ‘Til we’re well-fed and bred to get that bread ‘Cause you know everybody gotta and is gonna eat, B This generation as far as I see, We be #Move-Makers, Incorporated, the type that will make the corporates hate us And while there are times when we may tend to delight the haters, Trust, we don't have as much patience as Him for those tomb/room raiders... So, without further ado let these words feel true On this day, may I say, nay, may I scream that we create and build upon these #moves… No, these #movements, more men, women, and children, SHOULD make until we are no longer awake to think about taking breaks and procrastinate until all is too late to even wait...
