Moving On

Love, is what we had

Or at least I thought

I always saw how we were bad

But I fought and I fought

To you, everything was a competition

To you, I was nothing more than an outlet

To you, I was subject to omission

To you, I was just another person to forget

Whenever I would come over you told me not to rush

I could never understand your mentality

When "I love you" was pushed last time, my brain was mush

On your worst days I was subject to brutality

No, I'm tired of worrying

No, Im tired of making ends meet

No, I'm tired of being amusing

No, I'm tired of this, throw my shit on the street

I'm moving on trying to find

A person better than the last

One that won't make me feel confined

But will help me grow and develop in contrast

My latest failure helped me redefine love

It is an attempt at forever

It is not an algorithm to solve

It is a special bond to share, not with whoever

With the right person, you're allowed to be you

There is no fear of being subject to the whip

Enxlaved in a relationship where you can't be true

To someone, that is what I learned in my last relationship.

This poem is about the lessons I learned in a very toxic relationship. I learned that I cannot give myself to someone who is not right for me. That I cannot justify their existence in my life if there is no good reason to keep them. Love is hard, and it needs to be saved for someone special. Not the first person that is willing to accept it.
