Moving Onward

My biggest fear,

A most realistic dread--

Was once the day

You would move away

And leave me behind.

A beloved sista,

(I knew I’d miss ya)

So I anticipated...

Anxiously awaited,

That terrible, awful day

Then that very August morning came

And our day-to-day changed

But I wasn’t a mess;

In fact I cried a lot less

Than I thought I would

And slowly but surely

I’m patiently learning

That even as we go separate ways

And leave the good old days,

We’re friends til the end.
