Mr. November

I bid you farewell, Mr. November, On this day of our birth that we'll always remember. On this day the grass shines white. On this day my mind shines just as bright. For I have been waiting here as I’ve grown tall, Stuck. Forced to reckon with the shadows on this wall. I know them to be untrue, Yet against them little I thought I could do. Waited to grow free, To be unbound, For my mind to feel safe and sound. So by and by, as we circumvent heaven’s eye, And as flesh and bone became acquainted with the wooden frame, I held my breath. Expected some day you’d knock outside my door. Only then I wondered: For this disappointment who is to blame? In me truth’s rain has put out the flame, That contempt for you blindly grew. So who should the blame be passed to?
