Mr. Rainbow Sherbet
You bring the Loards Ice Cream employee out in me,
The sticky icky
The Rocky Road sticking to my arm like a sleeve,
The soft Pecan Praline that no one wants
Until we open a new box,
You are the customer I’d like to hand pack a quart for
Even with a line out the door,
Maybe. Maybe.
For you, Mr. Rainbow Sherbet
You bring out the boss in me,
The anger behind the smile in me,
The cake decorator in me,
The burnt waffle cones with a obscene aroma in me,
The Cuffker in me,
The blaring 80s music no one can stand out in me,
The customer is always right out in me,
The “Can I get you anything else?” out in me
Yes, you do Mr. Rainbow Sherbet.
You bring out salesman of fatty food out in me,
The bottom of the box all the way in the back out in me
The no spoons, cups, lids, or bananas out in me.
The Summer night rush out in me,
See my coworkers. My wicked coworkers,
I am the one who made those tips,
So share.
I claim you as my place of occupation,
But you are much more,
Let me serve you. Serve the only way I know how.
