Ms. Gloria, A Divine Connection
By: Jilmilla
God sent you to me in '98,
A guiding hand to help me navigate.
Just as I was stepping out on my own,
A seed of wisdom you lovingly had sown.
Ms. Gloria, you came to my life's start,
A beautiful mother-in-law, a kindred heart.
No matter the season, the cause, or the strife,
You were there, a constant and steady light.
You pushed me to do better, to stand up tall,
You were there to catch me before I could fall.
With a firm and gentle hand, you'd show me the way,
To make the right choices and face a new day.
Your concern for my life ran so deep and so true,
A love that was selfless in all that you'd do.
And the greatest lesson you showed me so clear,
Was a giving heart, to have and to hold dear.
I watched you year after year, give all that you had,
Without a single doubt, whether good or whether bad.
You knew God's blessings would meet you in time,
That your grace and your kindness would be a sign.
Your love for your family, a profound and deep sight,
A guiding beacon, a warm, steady light.
I saw it in the meals you lovingly made,
In every dish, a beautiful memory was laid.
You loved to cook, and the joy on your face,
Brought us closer together in that sacred space.
Each wonderful meal, a gathering of souls,
Filling not just our stomachs, but making us whole.
The scent of soul, a melody's sweet art,
The sound of Johnnie Taylor would bring joy to my heart.
On those days when you were happy, whole, and so well,
The rhythm would capture you, casting its spell.
Now, each time I hear his voice, a memory I see,
Of your spirit dancing, vibrant and free.
Your hair freshly done, a cascade of curls,
Shining so brightly in a world full of pearls.
And those natural long nails, a perfect design,
A testament to a beauty that was truly divine.
This music connects me to a moment in time,
When you were a vision, perfect and sublime.
A divine connection, a blessing from above,
Ms. Gloria, my mother-in-law, bound by eternal love
