Muffins

My wise grandmother

So gentle and kind

Smiles and laughs with me

As we bake in her home

Mixing ingredients together

To create her homemade muffin recipe

I make a mess trying to add batter into the cups

But I am happy

Because I get to taste the sweetness

Before putting them in the oven

While we wait, time passes

I play music and clean my mess

When we hear the sound

Of the muffins done baking

The aroma of our tundra picked blueberries

Fills the air

Fresh out of the oven

I hold them in my hands

I grab a warm muffin

And it falls apart

Because they haven’t cooled off

But I can’t help myself

I really want to know how it tastes

I quickly grab one and try to eat it

But it burns my mouth

And I regret not waiting patiently

Like my grandma
