a muse

there beholds the white screen,
a black cursor lazily blinking within its depths.
with nothing to do,
with nothing to type,
the keyboard clicks away

slowly
quietly
unsteadily.

some empty words fill up the screen

absurd
nonsense

with pauses

without
meaning.

and your mind shivers within the quietness.
you reach for the device oh so near.
the cold touch of the plastic,
and the worn out earphones,
they find their comfortable position
in your ear.
with the click of a button,
the bass starts pounding

the familiar beat
the constant rhythm
the memorable pace.

a melody kicks up,

you clear your mind
humming along
listening but not listening.

clickety-clack,
goes the keyboard.
your fingers find their places,
moving from letter to letter

without thought
without pause
without hesitation.
