Music
You found me in a dive bar,
dirty, dark, and desolate.
I was singing ivory tunes,
something that most people haven't heard of
But you knew the tune.
You knew it by heart.
You led me out of the bar into a world I visited often,
but never for too long.
You sung to me songs of a different tune,
Colourful songs, that many knew, loved, and cherished.
Surprisingly, I too knew the songs.
They were the pitches my father started.
He couldn't finish them.
My mother picked up the note.
She too was unable to finish the measure.
With you, solos became duets
Singles transformed into EPs, EPs into full blown albums
And melodies morphed into ethereal harmonies
But we soon losts the ablity to sing together.
Duets turned back to singles
Harmonies devolved back to melodies
And us became me.
Now here again I find myself backat that old dive bar.
"Hello, old friend. Did you miss me?"
