Music

Each note must produce millions of cells, I think

Each breath in between release even more

Until I am whole again, but made with new pieces.

Every song I sing, I feel move through me

I picture a song like a wind blowing through a forest,

Turning the leaves of trees.

Until only the lighter side shows, until they all have changed color

But it’s more than that; once the wind has blown through,

The trees change back.  As if nothing had happened at all.

This is not what music is, music opens you,

Gathering everything that makes you who you are,

And making each and every part new.

It stuffs all of your emotions and goals and funny little hang ups back into you

And it barely fits; this is how you grow from music, because you have to.

People wonder what the meaning of life is

And I know it must be this;

This deconstruction and rebuilding and growth.

With each song, each measure, each chord, each note;

I am a little different;

Until I am someone new
